Experience

KLIOS, Inc. was founded in 2000 by Richard M. Stein, a seasoned executive with over twenty-five years of management and leadership experience in a range of industries.

Mr. Stein's expertise includes quantitative decision support, entrepreneurial business strategy, economic and policy analysis.  He has worked in private consulting, as well as with the venture capital, banking, environmental, life sciences and transportation sectors.

Mr. Stein has been involved with management decision making for economic policy, strategic planning, marketing strategy, technology and capital investments.  His involvement with business incubation, new product development and university commercialization activity dates to his employment as Senior Economist and Consulting Manager with Wharton Econometric Forecasting Associates (WEFA).  Founded by Dr. Lawrence Klein, 1980 Nobel Laureate in Economics, the company was an early resident of the University City Science Center, the first and one of the largest urban research parks in the world.
Mr. Stein consults for private companies, non-profits, academia and public officials.
Other prior positions include:
  • Vice President for Research - Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania;
  • Vice President and Economist - CoreStates Financial Corp;
  • Regional Economist - Glendale Federal Savings and Loan.
Mr. Stein holds degrees from the Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania, and the London School of EconomicsHe is a frequent public speaker and lecturer; has appeared on television and radio; and is widely quoted in print.
